DataGlyphics, Florida COSEE Launch New Marine Sciences Web Site
5/19/2004
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – DataGlyphics Inc. and the Florida Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (Florida COSEE), today announced the launch of Florida COSEE's new Web site and online community. Located at www.floridacosee.net, the new site is a marine science educational resource and Web community for educators, scientists, engineers, marine operations/resource managers, policy makers, news media and the public.
"One of COSEE's main objectives is to make known the vital role of the oceans in our lives by publicizing and distributing marine science information, programs and products to the widest possible audience by using multiple formats and platforms," said Dr. Barbara Spector, director of Florida COSEE. "Our new Web solution is vital to this mission – and DataGlyphics has been an essential resource for us."
To streamline dissemination and sharing of marine science information, DataGlyphics built a dynamic system that enables site users to logon and post research articles, images, events and data sets for review – all with no HTML or programming required. The site also enables visitors to register to receive automated email notifications when new information or articles are posted to the site.
Florida COSEE's site also serves as an online community that fosters an environment of information exchange. Site users can collaborate and take advantage of the site's interactive tools such as online newsletters, research databases, automated email notifications and more. Florida COSEE partnered with the Digital Library for Earth System Education connected to the National Digital Library to expand the reach of its Web community.
"Florida COSEE needed an efficient system for adding, updating and managing the site's valuable marine research content," said William H. Stover, Jr., CEO of DataGlyphics. "We were able to work closely with the Florida COSEE team to design, develop and implement the exact solution they needed. Now, Florida COSEE personnel and site visitors can effectively manage site content – keeping it current, accurate and relevant for all visitors and registered users."
